The Pakistan Cricket Board has outlined a comprehensive and busy home schedule for the late 2026 season, bringing top-tier international cricket back to the heart of the country. Running from October 9 through November 21, the season is strategically designed to test Pakistan’s mettle across all three formats of the game.

How will the T20I series against Sri Lanka unfold? The season officially kicks off with the arrival of the Sri Lankan squad on October 4. The focus for the first leg of the tour is strictly on the shortest format of the game. All three T20 International matches are scheduled to take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, a venue known for its batting-friendly tracks and passionate crowds. These matches will be held on October 9, 11, and 13, providing a fast-paced start to the international summer. By keeping the T20I leg in a single city, logistical challenges are minimized for the visiting side as they acclimatize to Pakistani conditions.

What are the details of the highly anticipated ODI tri-series? Following the T20Is, the competitive stakes rise with the commencement of an ODI tri-series. This tournament is particularly significant as it brings England into the fold, alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The tri-series is structured to provide maximum exposure, with each of the three sides facing one another twice during a league stage.

The opening match of the tri-series will see Pakistan take on Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on October 18. The action continues in Rawalpindi for the first half of the tournament, including a marquee clash between Pakistan and England on October 20 and a neutral match between Sri Lanka and England on October 22.

As the tournament reaches its business end, the scene shifts to the historic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The latter half of the league stage will be played in Lahore, featuring repeats of the matchups to decide who qualifies for the final. The grand finale of this tri-series is scheduled for October 31 at the Gaddafi Stadium, which is expected to be a sold-out event.

What is the significance of the Test series against Sri Lanka? Once the white-ball festivities conclude, the focus shifts to the longest and most traditional format of the game: Test cricket. This series is not just about bilateral pride but carries significant weight in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Before the official Tests begin, Sri Lanka will engage in a three-day warm-up match in Islamabad from November 4 to 6 to adjust to the red-ball requirements after weeks of limited-overs cricket.

The two-match Test series will be split between the two primary hubs of the season. The first Test is slated for Rawalpindi from November 9 to 13. Following this, the teams will move back to Lahore for the second and final Test match, running from November 17 to 21. These matches represent a crucial opportunity for both Pakistan and Sri Lanka to secure points in the WTC standings, which determines the finalists for the global red-ball championship.

A full breakdown of the 2026 home season schedule For fans looking to plan their visits, the schedule is tightly packed. The season begins in Rawalpindi with the T20I matches on October 9, 11, and 13. The ODI tri-series starts on October 18 in Rawalpindi, with subsequent matches on October 20 and 22. The tour then transitions to Lahore for matches on October 25, 27, and 29, leading up to the final on October 31. After the Islamabad warm-up (Nov 4-6), the Test matches provide the grand finale to the season, concluding on November 21 in Lahore.

The logistical movement of the teams shows a clear pattern of starting in the north (Rawalpindi/Islamabad) and moving toward the cultural cricketing capital of Lahore for the high-pressure finals and series deciders. This structure allows for consistent pitch preparation and familiarization for the players across different formats.
